Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.  - 1 Timothy 4:12

The Heart Of God

"Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." - Matthew 11:28-29

Being a Christian, I think it's important to understand the Heart of God. In order to try to understand this we must first ponder His word, looking for what we seek. Job 5:11 / Psalm 72:4 / Psalm 12:5 /Psalm 138:6 / Psalm 35:10 / Luke 10:29-37

In these verses we have a recurring factor of the Lord being near the needy. We then have the Parable of the Good Samaritan. From the verse at the top and these other examples I have given we get that God's Heart is for the needy. But then we're left with a question of Who Are The Needy?
- Poor   - Sick   - Widows  - Prisoners  - Orphans     - Homely                       - Outcasts
The heart of God weeps for the Outcasts.
He hears the cry's of the needy even when they are silent, He hears everything.
 - The Left Out    - Unpopular  - Last
If God's heart is for the needy, the outcasts. Then our hearts should also be.

C.S. Lewis said;
" There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. "

As a Christian our charity should be different, because we understand what C.S. Lewis was talking about, we understand that everyone is an eternal being. We know that when people die they don't just go into the ground to be eaten by worms. They either get to spent eternity with God, or eternity in Hell. As Christians, we should be very worried about that for everyone. We so often think that we have all the time in the world to make a difference or talk to a friend or family member about God who doesn't know him, but we don't know how long we have. We aren't told to wait around for when our timing is right, we're to follow God's timing and live every day as if it may be our last.

God is involvement. If you want to follow Him, you have to engage in the war. ( Hebrews 11 ) But before you can be effective, you must first learn to get to know people. To be a follower of Christ we must strive to be like Him. Why does God want us to be Holy, Humble, and Perfect? Because that's who He is, and we are made in His image.

There was a man named William Wilberforce. He was a very sickly man, and a pretty famous Christian. He lobbied for the abolition of the slave trade, and for 18 years he introduced anti-slavery motions in parliament.
"So enormous, so dreadful, so irremediable did the trade's wickedness appear that my own mind was completely made up for abolition. Let the consequences be what they would: I from this time determined that I would never rest until I had effected its abolition. "
In 1807, the slave trade was finally abolished, but it didn't free those who were already slaves. So he went back to work to get those slaves their freedom. They finally gained that freedom in 1833, and shortly after he died. This man despite being plagued by poor health his entire life, went out and fought for slavery to be abolished. It would have been so easy for him to say " No, let someone else do it. I'm not well enough for it." But he didn't.

How then can we say "Let someone else do it." When asked by God to help someone. I can't tell you what you are suppose to do. But God knows, and He will tell you. You must go out and Do as much as you can for the glory of God. For when you do this, and are humble, you can begin to understand the Heart of God. And have a Heart for the needy, just like him.

God bless everyone. I hope you enjoyed this little post, It was drawn from a video series my Sunday school class has been studying.
